Abstract
This presentation will be separated in two parts, starting with the applications for wide area monitoring and control that are enabled by the installation of Phasor Measurement Units in the transmission system and continuing with the integration of renewable energy resources through the effective control of power electronics converters. In both topics Prof. Elias Kyriakides has pioneer work that managed to materialize in the field through two important projects that are lighthouse not only in Cyprus.
