Abstract

My talk will reminisce my cherished collaborations with Prof. Elias Kyriakides from circa 2001 to 2015. I will describe some research ideas that he led, aided, and mentored that have relevance beyond their immediate, and intended, scope and time. These include: a test for assessing structural imperfections in incidence matrices, thus, aiding robust state estimation; an early recognition of the potential of microgrids for electric grid resilience; and, power engineering education. I will conclude with a note on Prof. Kyriakides’ exemplary professional ethics and empathy for his students and colleagues.
