Water Sampling
The water sampling mechanism is designed for attachment to a UAV, enabling the operator to collect a water sample from a pond or lake. When the UAV needs to collect a sample, it will descend to the desired sample depth by submerging the entire mechanism. Once at the desired depth, the UAV will maintain a steady altitude, and the mechanism will be activated to take a sample. It is recommended to use each mechanism only once, as it is likely to contaminate subsequent samples.
The connection to the DJI M300 is straightforward as there are only two cables to be attached. The mechanism controller needs power and a communication line. The XT30 connector can be attached directly on the female XT30 connector of the DJI M300 to give power to the mechanism. The mechanism has a micro USB connector that can be attached via a USB cable to an Nvidia Jetson to communicate and receive commands. The controller can be secured on the DJI’s M300 top side, available for mounting extra payloads, and secured by four M3 screws.
The mechanism can be controlled by the AIDERS Platform.
