Christian Vitale received his PhD at Universidad Carlos III the Madrid and IMDEA Networks Institute in June 2017. His PhD dissertation, which title was “Analytical characterization of inband and outband D2D communications for network access”, was mainly focused on: (i) Analytical modeling of wireless network communication technologies, as 4G/5G or IEEE 802.11; (ii) Design of mechanisms improving wireless network efficiency, as Device-to-Device communications or Inter-Cell Interference Coordination; (iii) Greening access network operations.

Following his PhD, he first joined Politecnico di Torino on July 2017, working on IoT and on cellular MEC implementations and then KIOS Research Center, on March 2019, as a Post Doc.

During his career, Christian published more than 15 articles in international conferences, INFOCOM 2017 among them, which impact on the research community is testified by 2 different awards (Best Paper Award at IEEE OnlineGreencomm and Honorable Mention at COMSNETS). Christian served as TPC member in EdgeCom’17, of EdgeCom’18, the Graduate Forum of COMSNETS ’18 and as a reviewer for major journals and conferences such as IEEE Transaction on Green Communications and Networking, IEEE Transaction on Communications, JSAC, INFOCOM, ITC, WoWMoM. Finally, he was involved in several European Projects, among which the FP7-CROWD and the H2020 5G-Tranformers projects.

He also received two M.SC. degrees, the first one in Telecommunications Engineering with a specialization in Telecommunication Networks from the University of Pisa (2012), the second one in Telematic Engineering from Universidad Carlos III (2013). During his studies, he also spent internship periods in top universities (ParisTech-2016) and industrial research departments (NEC Europe-2011).
