Consortium

The OMRES consortium brings together four leading partners from academia and industry, uniting complementary expertise to accelerate the clean energy transition. Coordinated by the University of Cyprus, the partnership includes Aalborg University, Aix-Marseille University, and T.P. Aeolian Dynamics Ltd. Together, they combine excellence in digital solutions, energy systems engineering, socio-economic and environmental analysis, and real-world renewable energy operation. This strong collaboration ensures that OMRES innovations are not only scientifically and technically advanced but also sustainable, market-ready, and impactful at both European and global levels.

University of Cyprus (UCY)

The University of Cyprus is a leading academic and research institution in the Eastern Mediterranean, internationally recognized for its excellence in engineering, digital technologies, and renewable energy systems. Through the KIOS Research and Innovation Center of Excellence, UCY has built strong expertise in control, optimization, and real-time monitoring of critical infrastructures. Within OMRES, UCY coordinates the project and leads the development of advanced forecasting, diagnostics, and optimization tools. It also drives the creation of the digital twin framework, integrating real-life data from the Cypriot hybrid RES pilot site to validate the project’s innovations.

Aalborg University (AAU)

Aalborg University in Denmark is world-renowned for its research in energy systems, digital twins, and offshore renewable engineering. The university’s Energy Department is a leader in smart energy systems, power electronics, and simulation-based validation of renewable technologies. In OMRES, AAU contributes its expertise in high-fidelity modelling, real-time simulation, and inverter control strategies. The team plays a key role in integrating wind, solar, and storage systems within the digital twin environment, ensuring reliable, efficient, and grid-supportive operation of hybrid renewable plants.

Aix-Marseille University (AMU)

Aix-Marseille University is one of France’s largest multidisciplinary universities, with strong expertise in energy economics, environmental studies, and policy analysis. AMU has a long track record in assessing the socio-economic and ecological impacts of renewable energy deployment, as well as in supporting sustainable energy strategies. Within OMRES, AMU leads the evaluation of environmental and socio-economic impacts of hybrid renewable systems, ensuring that technical solutions are aligned with policy frameworks and public acceptance. It also provides input on sustainability, regulatory alignment, and stakeholder engagement, linking project outcomes with wider European energy goals.

Aeolian Dynamics (TPAD)

Aeolian Dynamics is a Cypriot renewable energy company specializing in the development and operation of wind and solar projects. As an industrial partner, TPAD brings valuable real-world experience in managing hybrid renewable assets and navigating regulatory and market environments. Within OMRES, TPAD provides the operational hybrid RES pilot site in Cyprus, offering access to live data and infrastructure for demonstration activities. It leads the validation of OMRES tools under real operating conditions and drives the exploitation and commercialization of project results, ensuring their pathway to market adoption.
