Michalis has received a PhD from the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE), University of Cyprus (2009) and a MSEE (1998) and BSEE (1997) from the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Purdue University, West Lafayette, IN, USA. Since 2009, he has been employed as a Research Fellow at the KIOS Research Center for Intelligent Systems and Networks.  Over the last two years Michalis has been primarily involved in WATER-BEE (, a R&D project that is being funded by the EC’s Seventh Framework Programme under “Research for SMEs”. His research activities concentrate in the area of intelligent systems and control. Research Interests: wireless sensor networks, distributed systems, computer networks, event detection and localization, fault tolerance, collaborative signal information processing, environmental monitoring, smart irrigation systems, fuzzy information processing and machine learning.
