Dr. Konstantinos Manousakis is a Post-Doctoral Fellow at KIOS Research and Innovation Center of Excellence. He holds a Diploma (2004) in Computer Engineering and Informatics from the University of Patras, Greece, an MSc (2007) and a PhD (2011) from the same department. In his doctoral research he worked on the design of impairment-aware routing and wavelength assignment (IA-RWA) algorithms for optical wavelength division multiplexed networks.

Dr. Manousakis has extensive research experience in the field of optical networks and optimization algorithms. He has participated in several National and EU research projects in this area, where he acquired extensive knowledge in integer linear programming, network design, security techniques and resource allocation. His research work has been published in about 60 top tier journals and telecommunications conferences. His work has received a number of awards including a best paper award at CRITIS’2013 and an IEEE/OSA Journal of Lightwave Technology outstanding reviewer award (2016). He has been granted a Marie Curie Career Integration Grant (MC-CIG) for the period 2014-2018. The focus of the MC-CIG was on the design of secure next-generation optical networks against physical layer attacks. He is the recipient of the 2018 ‘Cyprus Young Researcher in Physical Sciences & Engineering’ Award, by the Cyprus Research & Innovation Foundation. He is a Marie Curie Fellow, as well as an IEEE Senior Member.

His research interests include optimization algorithms for high speed networks, security in optical networks, routing and spectrum allocation, spectrally and spatially optical networks, network coding, protection and restoration techniques, and techno-economic aspects of communication networks.
