Dr. Elena Constantinou is an emotion researcher currently working on the PathoCERT project exploring the psychological and social impact of emergencies. She completed her BA in Psychology and MA in Educational/Cognitive Psychology at the University of Cyprus and obtained her PhD in Psychology in 2014 from the University of Leuven (Belgium). Her doctoral work examined how emotions bias the perception of bodily symptoms, leading to phenomena like functional syndromes. Between 2014-2019, Dr. Constantinou conducted experimental research in the UK (Queen Mary University of London, Goldsmiths University of London, King's College London) in projects related to psychopathology, like anxiety and depression. Between 2019-2021, Dr. Constantinou completed her own post-doctoral project at the Department of Psychology of the University of Cyprus investigating coherence among emotional responses.
