KIOS Research Center of the University of Cyprus is an academic/research institution that has attained scientific excellence in information and communication technologies. It conducted numerous disaster management projects in the past (an example being FP7-COncORDE (http://www.concorde-project.eu/). It also has solid expertise in UAS research and development. Indicatively, UCY is in possession of more than 10 UAS platforms that are being used for education and development purposes, in teaching low-power, autonomous and adaptive robotics and embedded systems.

KEMEA (the advisory, research and consulting body of the Ministry of Interior and Administrative Reconstruction) is also well fit at reaching a large number of end-users. KEMEA is staffed by active officers of the Hellenic Police, Fire Corps, Civil Protection, and security experts with high academic profile in security research.

The Civil Defence’s mission is to take preventive, repressive and supporting humanitarian measures in order to protect the population and its property, as well as the environment and critical infrastructure from the effects of disasters either natural (earthquakes, floods, tornadoes etc.) or manmade (technological accidents, armed conflict, etc.). It also aims to provide the necessary conditions for the population’s survival and recovery following a disaster.
