EENA Drones & Public Safety Summit 2018
The event took place on 20 September 2018 at the Fire Brigade of Brussels. About 200 participants from 30 countries discussed how to foster the use of drones by emergency and rescue services. LEAPFROG participated in the event for networking and informing of the work currently conducted.
Project Meetings
2nd project meeting
Hosted by CISD of the Ministry of Interior of Bulgaria between 31/01/2019 – 1/02/2019. The meeting included project updates, future planning as well as a join exercise with the Bulgarian Civil Protection Agency.
Trainings and Exercises
1st Training Session
Hosted by KIOS CoE, University of Cyprus between 8 – 12/10/2018, 26- 30/10/2018. 6 Cyprus Civil Defence staff and volunteers have attained the training activity that included both theoretical and practical sessions. Both sessions covered basic pilot training, use and experimentation with software tools, and decision-making for mission-specific challenges.

UCPM training
Hosted by Cyprus Civil Defence on the 20/12/2018. CCD staff and volunteers attained the training activity that included an introduction to the UCPM, delivered by Mr. Kyriakos Hadjigeorgiou.
3rd Training Session

Search and Rescue Exercise
Conducted by the Cyprus Civil Defence on the 2/03/2019. The SAR exercise involved more than 100 Cyprus Civil Defence staff and volunteers. The scenario included the displacement of infrastructure and buildings after a large landslide causing extensive damage with several victims trapped in the ruins. The RPAS unit consisting of 6 CCD staff and 4 KIOS researchers participated in the exercise to provide early situational assessment and detect the stranded survivors before ground SAR teams moved in the field. Of the 10 simulated victims, the RPAS unit managed to locate 6 and help expedite the location of the rest.
