CIS Testbeds

The KIOS CoE significantly invests in the development of critical infrastructure systems (CIS) testbeds, to enable the efficient, transparent and reliable testing of software algorithms, hardware components, and new technologies under realistic conditions. In particular, KIOS CoE is developing a number of testbeds, which include physical as well as virtual components thus extending the size and complexity of the critical infrastructures. The testbeds are at scale and involve infrastructures of Power Systems, Water Distribution Systems (all with physical and virtual components), as well as a Transportation System, a Telecommunication and a Cyber-security testbed (with virtual components). The testbeds will effectively support the application of innovative research in the areas of monitoring, control, management and security of CIS.

A key novelty of the KIOS CIS Testbeds is the interoperability between all testbeds, through an integrated software platform. The platform enables researchers and collaborators to address challenges related to CIS interdependencies, safety and security (focusing specifically on cyber-security).
