Georgios Stavrinides

Georgios Stavrinides joined the KIOS Research and Innovation Center of Excellence as a Postdoctoral Researcher in September 2022. He received the PhD degree in Informatics from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece in 2014, the MSc degree in Advanced Computing from Imperial College London, UK in 2007, and the BSc degree in Informatics from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece in 2006. Before joining KIOS, he was a Postdoctoral Researcher (2018-2022) and a Research Collaborator (2014-2018) in the Department of Informatics at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece. His research focuses on performance optimization of cyber-physical systems in the edge-cloud continuum, with emphasis on task allocation and scheduling in distributed multi-tier environments under real-time constraints, as well as optimization techniques for ensemble-based multi-class classification in imbalanced datasets. He has authored or co-authored over 60 scholarly publications, three of which have received best paper awards at international conferences. At KIOS, he has expanded his research to further align with the Center’s mission and contributes to the supervision of PhD candidates. He actively supports the Center’s objectives, initiatives, and 10-Year Strategic Plan through his engagement and contributions as a member of the KIOS Open Science Committee and the KIOS Open Science Strategic Committee.
