Pavlos Nicolaou received an MSc in Mobile Application Design and a PhD in Engineering from the University of Kent in 2018 and 2024, respectively. His PhD research focused on acoustic sensing for assistive living, developing machine learning models for analysing sound signals while addressing privacy challenges in data collection. His work included unsupervised learning approaches for daily activity recognition and privacy-preserving frameworks for acoustic activity monitoring. He has also contributed to research on augmented reality for pedestrian navigation and industrial collaborations on acoustic sensing in care homes. His current research interests include machine learning for healthcare, signal processing, and privacy-preserving AI. He is currently a Research Associate at the KIOS Research and Innovation Center of Excellence.
