An international conference titled ‘Democracy and Cybersecurity in the Age of Artificial Intelligence’ will take place on Wednesday, October 23, 2024, at the University of Cyprus Campus (Auditorium B108, at the A. Leventis Building). The conference is co-organized and co-funded by the University of Southern California (USC) in USA, the University of Cyprus, the CYENS and KIOS Centers of Excellence, the European Digital Innovation Hub in Cyprus (DiGiNN) and is held under the auspices of the Deputy Ministry of Research, Innovation, and Digital Policy of Cyprus.
Distinguished speakers from the U.S. and Cyprus will discuss key issues related to cybersecurity, examining how Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies can impact disinformation threats and cyberattacks, as well as how critical infrastructures and databases can be protected. In addition, the conference will explore how AI can contribute to safeguarding government and public enterprises, public utilities as well as sectors such as healthcare and technology against cyberattacks.
This conference will draw on the unique experience of University of Southern California, which collaborates with all 50 U.S. states to safeguard American democracy, as well as its leadership in AI research and its applications in public services. It will also be based on USC’s global cybersecurity research and exchanges, including conferences that have been held in Europe, Asia, and Africa.
The conference is addressed to a wide-ranging audience, including but not limited to, the academic community, policymakers, election officials, and IT professionals. The conference is also open to citizens interested in the impact of artificial intelligence and cybersecurity. Participants will have the opportunity to exchange views on identifying and addressing cyber threats, promoting cooperation between Cyprus, the USA, and the EU.
