KIOS CoE and Okta forge strategic cybersecurity partnership

Partnership KIOS-Okta

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was recently signed between the KIOS Research and Innovation Center of Excellence at the University of Cyprus and Okta Inc., a global leader in cybersecurity solutions headquartered in San Francisco, USA.

This strategic partnership, initiated by KIOS Prof. Angelos Marnerides, builds upon Okta’s ongoing engagement and support of cybersecurity research at the Center. It aims to foster collaboration on cutting-edge research and innovation, addressing emerging challenges in the cybersecurity domain.

As a major stakeholder in the global cybersecurity market, Okta brings invaluable insights into real-world needs and trends, helping KIOS and the University of Cyprus tailor their research towards impactful, industry-relevant solutions.

Through this MoU, KIOS further strengthens its mission to push the boundaries of cybersecurity by developing pragmatic, high-impact technologies to counter the constantly evolving digital threat landscape. The agreement also opens new avenues for knowledge sharing, joint development, and the deployment of next-generation security innovations.

It is worth noting that KIOS and Prof. Marnerides are already collaborating with Okta in the areas of cyber threat intelligence and anomaly detection, focusing on the early detection of large-scale Internet attacks targeting critical infrastructures.

This collaboration has already yielded impactful research, with results published in top-tier IEEE ComSoc conferences such as IEEE ICC and IEEE GLOBECOM. In addition, Okta is a member of the Industry Advisory Board (IAB) of the EU Horizon COCOON project, which is coordinated by University of Cyprus and KIOS CoE.

On behalf of KIOS, Prof. Marnerides, said: “We look forward to a dynamic and fruitful collaboration with Okta, as we continue to advance research excellence in cybersecurity at both national and international levels.”
