KIOS Part-time Internship Positions for Undergraduate and Postgraduate Students of the University of Cyprus (H2020 PathoCERT Social Science study)

The KIOS Research and Innovation Center of Excellence (KIOS CoE) has launched the “KIOS Internships” initiative, aimed to provide valuable work experience to undergraduate and postgraduate students at the University of Cyprus.

This call of the KIOS Internships program will give the opportunity to undergraduate and postgraduate students at the University of Cyprus to work at the KIOS Research and Innovation Center of Excellence, in collaboration with researchers at the Department of Social and Political Sciences, as part of the EU-funded Η2020 PathoCERT
Research and Innovation project (www.pathocert.eu).

The KIOS CoE is the largest research center of the University of Cyprus and it currently employs more than 160 researchers. KIOS CoE focuses on the study of intelligent systems and networks, with applications in critical infrastructure systems and emergency response technologies.

Duties
Students will work on tasks related to the H2020 PathoCERT project, with the guidance of an experienced team of researchers at the Department of Social and Political Sciences (Dr. Iasonas Lamprianou). Their work will be related to the social study undertaken as part of the project, aiming to investigate how emergency situations, such as flooding or water contaminations, affect the citizens. The specific duties and skills required are provided below:

Employment Terms
Students will have the opportunity to be employed beginning of December 2021 for a fixed period. The first month of employment will be a trial period. For the data entry part of the internship, students will be allocated space to work at KIOS CoE.

The employment status will be part-time with a maximum working time of 20 hours per week during the academic year and 35 hours per week during the holiday periods, with gross salary 5.93 €/hour. Various contributions (social insurance, etc.) will be deducted from the gross salary, in accordance with the existing legislation.

For each position, the following conditions will apply:
• Interns for data collection (5 positions): Maximum working time 120 hours per person during a 3-month period from the beginning of employment.
• Interns for data collection and cleaning (1 position): Maximum working time 240 hours during a 3-month period from the beginning of employment.

How to apply
KIOS CoE accepts applications by undergraduate and postgraduate students at the University of Cyprus only, irrespective of their area of studies.

Students can use their University of Cyprus username and password to login.

The applications must include the following items:
• The latest degree transcript
• Letter of expression of interest, in which the following topics are covered, if applicable:
o Previous experience or knowledge of survey methodology and research including contact with people.
o Experience with data processing (for the Data cleaning position)
o Awards and other achievements
o Other work/volunteering experience/extra-curriculum activities (it does not have to be relevant to the position)

Deadline for the applications is November 26, 2021. Candidates may be called for an interview at the KIOS CoE.
