Research Lecturer or Research Assistant Professor Positions

The KIOS Research and Innovation Center of Excellence (KIOS CoE) at the University of Cyprus, invites applications for three (3) positions at the rank of Research Lecturer or Research Assistant Professor, for full time or part time employment, in the following field that covers the research activities of the KIOS Center of Excellence:

Monitoring, Control or Security of Critical Infrastructure Systems (critical infrastructures are limited to power systems or intelligent transportation systems or smart water networks or telecommunication networks or emergency management)

One of the strategic aims of the University of Cyprus is the further promotion and development of research, in which new staff are expected to play an essential role.

KIOS Research and Innovation Center of Excellence (KIOS CoE)

The KIOS Research and Innovation Center of Excellence is the largest research center at the University of Cyprus, and has recently been upgraded to a European Research Center of Excellence through the KIOS CoE Teaming project, with significant funding over the next 15 years. Currently, the Center employs more than 130 researchers (at various ranks/levels), who are supported by externally funded research projects.

KIOS provides an inspiring environment for carrying out top level research in the area of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) with emphasis on the Monitoring, Control and Security of Critical Infrastructures, including power and energy systems, water networks, transportation networks, telecommunication networks and emergency management and response. The Center instigates interdisciplinary interaction and promotes collaboration between industry, academia and research organizations in high-tech areas of global importance.

Required Qualifications:

  1. Candidates are required to hold a Doctorate degree from a recognized university. Moreover, the required qualifications for the academic ranks of Research Lecturer and Research Assistant Professor positions are the same as those of the respective Academic position ranks, with the exception of the requirements related to teaching experience.   2. Very strong record in attracting research funding
  3. Good knowledge of the English Language is essential

Citizenship of the Republic of Cyprus is not a requirement for these positions.

Remuneration:

The annual gross salary (including the 13th salary) for full time employment, according to the current legislation, is:

Research Assistant Professor               (Scale Α13-Α14)                                                           €58.428,91-€78.798,61

Research Lecturer                               (Scale Α12-Α13)                                                           €49.344,99-€72.265,43

From the above amounts, employee contributions to the various governmental funds will be deducted.

A contract of minimum length three years will be offered to the selected Research Lecturer / Research Assistant Professor, whilst subsequent contract renewals may have any duration (with minimum of one year). The employment is based on fixed term contract(s) and it does not, under any circumstances, acquire permanent status.

  6. List of publications
  7. Representative publications (up to 3 publications which should be individually uploaded).
  8. The names and e-mails of three academic referees, who, upon submission of the application will be automatically notified to provide recommendation letters (in the English language) within seven days past the submission application deadline.

Documents 1-7 must be individually uploaded as separate PDF documents

Selected candidates will be required to submit copies of degree certificates officially certified by the Ministry of Education (for certificates received from Universities in Cyprus) or from the Issuing Authority (for foreign Universities).

Applications, supporting documents and reference letters submitted in the past in response to previous calls will not be considered and must be resubmitted.

Applications not conforming to the specifications of this announcement; i.e., do not include all the required items/documents as requested via the electronic submission system, will not be considered.
