Eugene Terence Sweeney

Eugene has over 40 years professional experience of innovation and Intellectual Asset management; particularly the commercial exploitation of research and early-stage technologies. His career has spanned research, industry, and investment. For 11 years, was a senior executive with an international early-stage technology investment organisation, managing a portfolio of IP investments mainly in the ICT and software sectors.

He founded Iambic Innovation Ltd in 2000, which provides services, support and training related to Innovation and the management, protection and exploitation of IP and research results. He is an active member of the International (ISO) and European (CEN) Standards Committees which developed the recently published standards for Innovation Management and Intellectual Property Management Systems.

He is a senior advisor to the European IP Helpdesk, and a Central Expert for the EC’s Horizon IP-Scan service, which aims to help SMEs involved in collaborative European projects to develop strategies for their IP management.  As such he contributes to EC policy issues and best practice guidelines related to IP management, protection, and exploitation.

He has worked for over 30 years with the European Commission as an expert consultant, evaluator, and project monitor for various projects, programmes and strategic reviews, mainly related to ICT, IP and Innovation, including acting as an Innovation Radar expert.

He is a member of LES (Licensing Executives Society), and of the EU Committee of ASTP (Europe’s premier association of knowledge transfer professionals).
