Savvas Papaioannou joined the KIOS Research Center for Intelligent Systems and Networks at the University of Cyprus as a research scientist in June 2017. His research interests include sensor networks, sensor fusion, networked embedded systems, sensing platforms and architectures, indoor/outdoor localization, multiple target tracking, computer vision, intelligent camera sensor networks, machine learning, cyber-physical systems, computer architecture and software/hardware co-design. Before joining KIOS he worked as a consultant/research scientist at Navenio Ltd, UK where he assisted in the design of novel infrastructure-free indoor positioning systems.
He graduated top of his class receiving a B.Sc degree in Electronic and Computer Engineering from the Technical University of Crete, Greece in 2011. He then continued his studies at Yale University, USA obtaining a M.Sc degree in Engineering and Applied Science in 2012. He received a Ph.D degree in Computer Science from the University of Oxford, UK in 2017. During his Ph.D studies he pioneered in the development of novel multi-modal multi-target tracking systems.
