Tania Panayiotou

Tania Panayiotou is currently a Senior Research Associate at the KIOS Research and Innovation Center of Excellence. She received her diploma degree in Computer Engineering from the University of Patras, Greece in 2005 and her Ph.D degree in Computer Engineering from the University of Cyprus in 2013. She has previously worked as a Research Associate at KIOS Research and Innovation Center of Excellence (2017-2024), and as an Associate Researcher at Cyprus University of Technology (2015-2016). She also worked as an Adjunct Lecturer at University of Cyprus (2014), at Open University of Cyprus (2015), at Neapolis University of Pafos (2016-2017) and at American University of Beirut-Mediterraneo (2024). Her research interests are in the areas of optical networks and transportation systems. Some of the research areas that she is focusing on include: Machine Learning for Protection/Restoration, Fault Localization, Traffic Engineering and Resource Allocation in Optical Networks. Regarding transportation systems the emphasis is on the Electric Vehicle Charging Management Problem.
She has published over 50 peer-reviewed conference papers, journal papers, and book chapters in the most prestigious conferences and journals in her field. She was the recipient of the best paper award in ONDM’17 conference, while several other papers she co-authored were nominated for the best paper award (RNDM’19, MedComNet22’). She is a Senior Member of IEEE.
