Dr. Yiannis Tofis is an accomplished Electrical and Computer Engineer, Researcher, Inventor, and Serial Entrepreneur, with an international track record spanning academia, industry, and high‑tech innovation.
He was awarded a five-year merit scholarship from the Greek National Foundation of Scholarships (IKY) after achieving the 4th-highest overall score in the Pan-Cypriot university entrance examinations. He holds a Diploma in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA, 2009), a M.Sc. in Telecommunications from University College London (UCL, 2010), and a Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Cyprus (2018).
Dr. Tofis has conducted impactful research at prestigious institutions worldwide. At the University of Tokyo, under Prof. Tohru Asami, he worked on a NEDO-funded project focused on energy harvesting technologies for sustainable wireless sensing systems. At UCL, under Prof. George Pavlou, he contributed to the ICT-FP7 COMET project, developing pioneering content-aware networking architectures.
His professional experience includes roles at the Greek Public Power Corporation S.A. (PPC) in the Islands Power Supply Division, where he received national recognition in the Pan-Hellenic “Xirafia” Innovation Contest, and at the Network Management Center of NTUA. He has also undertaken high-level research internships across Europe, including:
