Yiannis Tofis

Yiannis Tofis was awared with a five year Scholarship from the Greek Foundation of National Scholarships (IKY) for achieving the 4th Pan-Cypriot highest grade in university entrance exams. He received a five years engineering diploma in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA) in 2009, an M.Sc. Degree in Telecommunications from University College London (UCL) in 2010 and a Ph.D from University of Cyprus in 2018. He worked as a researcher on NEDO Grant for Industrial Technology Research Power scavenging solutions for the development of environmentally friendly wireless sensing systems at the University of Tokyo supervised by Prof. Tohru Asami and on ICT-FP7 Content Mediator architecture for content-aware nETworks (COMET) project at the University College of London (UCL) supervised by Prof. George Pavlou.

He was an intern at the Greek Public Power Corporation S.A. in the Department of the Islands Power Supply Direction and he was highly awarded in the Pan-Hellenic Contest “Xirafia” for his project. He worked for eight months at the Network Management Center (NMC) of the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA). He did an intership at Smartephone AS Norway, at the European Laboratory for Particle Physics supervised by Dr. Jean-Charles Tournier, at the Computer Lab of the University of Cambridge supervised by Prof. Ian Leslie and at VTT Research Centre in Finland under the supervision of Dr. Klaus Kansala. Since October 2010 he is working towards a Ph.D degree in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering from University of Cyprus, Nicosia. His research interests include renewable energy systems, monitoring and control of thw power system, load management techniques, UFLS, load/generation forecasting, computer networks, telecommunication networks, energy scavenging from a real environment and smart grids. Mr. Tofis is a member of the Cyprus Technical Chamber. He is the founder of Eletoyia Photovoltaics.
