Lenos Hadjidemetriou, Ph.D.

Dr. Lenos Hadjidemetriou is currently a Research Lecturer at the KIOS Research and Innovation Center of Excellence, University of Cyprus, Cyprus. He received the Diploma in Electrical and Computer Engineering in 2010 from the National Technical University of Athens, Athens, Greece, and his Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering in 2016 from the University of Cyprus.

His research interests include grid integration of renewable energy systems, energy storage systems, control of power electronics, digital twins and real-time hardware in the loop applications, ancillary services, smart grids and microgrids, and cyber-security aspects in smart grids.

Dr. Hadjidemetriou has published more than 75 papers in scientific journals and international conference proceedings. He has extensive experience on attracting competitive research funding while he is working towards the succesfull completion of several european (OneNet, Smart5Grid, PVgnosis, KIOS CoE) and national (EMPOWER, WiseStorage) funded projects. He is also working on industry funded projects with Electricity Authority of Cyprus and  Cyprus Transmission System Operator.

He has developed 1 educational laboratory (electric machines laboratory) and 2 advanced research laboratories (modern power systems testbed, power electronics for renewable energy sources laboratory) in the University of Cyprus premises that are used for educational, research and innovation purposes. Furthermore, he is leading the development of a three pilot demonstration for energy storage systems (1 with flywheel and 2 with battery storage systems) capable to provide novel ancillary services to the smart grid.
