TIRAMISU “Training and Innovation in Reliable and Efficient Chip Design for Edge AI” is a European HORIZON Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) Doctoral Network project. The general research objective of TIRAMISU is a practical methodology for reliable and energy-efficient Edge AI hardware backbone design and innovation management.
The objective of Doctoral Networks is to implement doctoral programmes by partnerships of organizations from different sectors across Europe and beyond to train highly skilled doctoral candidates, stimulate their creativity, enhance their innovation capacities and boost their employability in the long-term.
TIRAMISU refers to the concept Edge AI, which is critical for applications demanding high performance, ultra-low latency, efficient power use, and intelligence beyond regular computing. However, Edge AI faces challenges such as limited computing resources, evolving market dynamics, and regulatory uncertainties. With the support of the MSCA programme, the TIRAMISU project will provide strong interdisciplinary training for future European engineers and researchers driving the innovation for reliable and energy-efficient Edge AI chips.
The project’s consortium consists of 10 partners from six European countries. The non-academic sector is represented by a European flagship R&D hub for nanoelectronics – IMEC (Netherlands), a global leader in industrial electronics and the largest semiconductor manufacturer in Germany – Infineon, a trusted automotive solutions provider – DUMAREY SOFTRONIX SRL, the worldwide leader in EDA tools development – Cadence. The academic excellence is established by the top ICT and Technology Innovation engineering universities – Tallinn University of Technology (Estonia), Delft University of Technology (Netherlands), Politecnico di Torino (Italy), University of Cyprus (KIOS Center of Excellence), Bern University of Applied Sciences (Switzerland) and Europe’s largest application-oriented research organization – Fraunhofer (Germany). The project is coordinated by the Tallinn University of Technology.
