KIOS faculty Ioannis Krikidis in the 2017 list of Thompson Reuters Highly Cited Researchers

Dr. Ioannis Krikidis, Assistant Professor at the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Cyprus and Faculty Member of the KIOS Research and Innovation Center of Excellence (CoE), has been honored as a 2017 Thompson Reuters Highly Cited Researcher (HCR).

Thompson Reuters Highly Cited Researchers is an annual list recognizing leading researchers in the sciences and social sciences from around the world. The purpose of the Thomson Reuters HCR List is to identify contemporary authors whose research has significantly influenced others in their field. The list names nearly 3,400 scientists from around the world whose studies were among the top 1% most referenced in academic journals from 2005 to 2015. Prof. Ioannis Krikidis has authored/co-authors 15 highly-cited journal papers in the area of Wireless Communications. He is the only Cyprus-based academic to be included in the list.

The White Paper prepared by ClarivateAnalytics when presenting the results noted that highly cited researchers “have distinguished themselves by publishing a high number of papers that rank in the top 1% most-cited in their respective fields over a recent 11-year period. Such consistent production of highly cited reports indicates that the work of these researchers has been repeatedly judged by their peers to be of notable significance and utility.”

Dr. Krikidis inclusion in the Thompson Reuters Highly Cited Researchers List of 2017 is evidence of scientific excellence and of the high-impact research currently being undertaken at the KIOS Center of Excellence. Such scientific excellence is expected to also have a positive impact on the Center’s researchers, thus enhancing and promoting further research, innovation activities, and entrepreneurship in the area of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT).
