KIOS signs MoU with CERTH for collaborative research activities

MoU with CERTH

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the KIOS Research and Innovation Center of Excellence at the University of Cyprus and the Centre for Research & Technology, Hellas (CERTH), on the 15th of June 2023. The agreement focuses on undertaking collaborative work in research, technological development, and innovation, for the benefit of society.

The MoU was signed by the KIOS CoE Director, Prof. Marios Polycarpou, and by the CERTH Director of Central Directorate and Chairman of the Board of Directors, Dr. Dimitrios Tzovaras.

Under the MoU, the two parties will collaborate for the preparation of research and innovation proposals, funded by the European Commission and other sources, the organization of conferences, seminars, workshops, lectures or other dissemination activities, and the exchange of know-how, best-practices, and data for research purposes. In addition, the MoU includes the opportunity for staff mobility as well as education and training activities for post-doctoral researchers and PhD students.

During the signing ceremony, the KIOS Director, Prof. Polycarpou said: “The signing of the MoU lays the groundwork for close collaboration and highlights the capabilities and expertise of the two institutions in the area of Information and Communications Technology. The undertaking of joint actions and initiatives will contribute to tackling modern challenges, for the benefit of society”.

On behalf of CERTH, the Director, Dr. Dimitrios Tzovaras, said: “We are very pleased with the signing of this collaboration agreement, which through a series of activities will contribute to the advancement of knowledge-intensive entrepreneurship. This initiative will build strong ties between the two institutions, enabling them to create a positive impact on society in Greece and Cyprus”.
