A successful conference on the impact of Artificial Intelligence (AI) across sectors was organized by the Cyprus Academy of Sciences, Letters and Arts in collaboration with the KIOS Research and Innovation Center of Excellence, and held under the auspices of the President of the Republic of Cyprus, Mr. Nikos Christodoulides.

The “Cyprus AI Conference” took place on 5–7 November 2025 at the University of Cyprus, with the participation of 50 experts from diverse scientific and professional domains. Throughout the three-day conference they discussed the vision, risks, and opportunities arising from the rapid expansion and use of Artificial Intelligence in various sectors of society and the economy.

On behalf of the President of the Republic of Cyprus, the Deputy Minister of Research, Innovation and Digital Policy, Dr. Nikodimos Damianou, addressed the event, stating that Artificial Intelligence is a defining force of our era, reshaping geo-economics and geo-politics, perhaps more profoundly than any other technology in the history of humankind. Referring, among other things, to the Cyprus’ upcoming Presidency of the EU Council in 2026, the Deputy Minister stressed that Artificial Intelligence will be a central pillar of the government’s agenda— from advancing practical implementation of the AI Act, to strengthening Europe’s digital sovereignty, and creating a safer digital space for minors online.

The opening of the Conference also included greetings from the Chairman of the Council of the University of Cyprus, Mr. Tasos Anastasiou; the President of the Cyprus Academy of Sciences, Letters and Arts, Professor Achilles C. Emilianides; and the Chairman of the Board of the KIOS Center of Excellence and Member of the Cyprus Academy of Sciences, Letters and Arts, Professor Marios Polycarpou.

The second day (6 November 2025) included a keynote speech by the Chief Scientist of the Republic of Cyprus, Mr. Demetris Skourides, titled “Cyprus AI 2030: AI for Government, Research, and Industry,” along with presentations and discussions on how AI is reshaping key pillars of modern society, such as Democracy, Critical Infrastructure Systems, Innovation, and Entrepreneurship.
