On 24 October 2025, the KIOS Research and Innovation Center of Excellence at the University of Cyprus hosted the Chief Executive of the European Defence Agency (EDA), Mr André Denk, together with representatives from the Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Cyprus, at its premises.
During the visit, participants discussed topics related to the protection and security of critical infrastructure systems. The KIOS team presented the outcomes of the completed project THISEAS, co-funded by the Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Cyprus, as well as the research activities of the ongoing European Defence Fund (EDF) projects ACTING, in which KIOS leads a technical task on studies of federated cyber ranges, and VICTORIOUS, in which KIOS leads a technical work package on multi-sensor drone integration.
In addition, the team provided an overview of upcoming EDF projects, namely CITADEL Range, in which KIOS will participate as a partner, and PLEIADES, in which KIOS will lead a technical work package on drone swarming.
The discussions provided an opportunity to exchange views on EU research and innovation priorities in the fields of defence and security, and to explore prospects for further collaboration through participation in EDA activities.
