KIOS Distinguished Lecture Series

The KIOS Research and Innovation Center of Excellence, as part of the KIOS Distinguished Lecture Series, hosted recently two very special guests, the Professor John Lygeros from ETH Zurich and Dr. Eleni Pratsini, Managing Director at Accenture Technology.

Professor Lygeros, is currently a Professor of Computation and Control and Head of the Automatic Control Laboratory in the Department of Information Technology and Electrical Engineering at ETH Zurich. He is a Fellow of the IEEE, and a member of the IET and the Technical Chamber of Greece. He is currently serving in the IEEE Board of Governors, the Scientific Steering Committee of the Newton Institute, and as the treasurer of the International Federation of Automatic Control.

Dr. Eleni Pratsini is the Managing Director at Accenture Technology, leading the growth of ‘AI and Automation’ business in Europe. Prior to joining Accenture she spent 14 years at IBM Research, leading research teams in Advanced Analytics and AI. In her most recent roles, she was Director of Cognitive IoT Solutions and Lab Director of IBM Research – Dublin, Smarter Cities Technology Centre. Before joining IBM, she had a successful career in academia, first in the US as associate professor at Miami University, and then in Europe at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zurich (ETHZ). Her teaching and research was recognized by a number of academic awards and industrial grants.

Professor Lygeros presented the topic “”Coordination and control in next generation energy systems” and Dr. Pratsini talked about “The unstoppable growth of AI and Analytics – is industry really ready?”.The KIOS Distinguished Lectures are delivered by world-renowned and leading scientists who are invited to talk about cutting-edge research and innovation advances in their field. Through these lectures,KIOS is striving to achieve its vision of seeking and spreading new knowledge, while also allowing the motivated researchers of the Center to be exposed to a diversity of people, backgrounds, and ideas.
