The KIOS CoE Research team in collaboration with the Cyprus Civil Defence developed the SafeCY mobile app, a useful tool for preparedness and safety in emergency situations. The app allows users to locate the nearest shelters based on their current location or by entering an address or postal code. Using GPS and an interactive map, users can view nearby shelters and access basic information such as their capacity. “SafeCy”, which was first launched in March 2025, is available free of charge on both Apple’s App Store and Google’s Play Store, and it operates in both Greek and English. The app has been installed on over 100,000 devices and several new features are planned in future updates.
