Another significant honor for the University of Cyprus is the election of Marios Polycarpou, Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering and Chair of the Board of the KIOS Research and Innovation Center of Excellence, as a member of the European Academy of Sciences (EURASC) in the field of Engineering.
Professor Polycarpou is the first academic from the University of Cyprus to receive this honor. This international distinction, awarded to scientists for their exceptional contributions to the advancement of research and technology as well as the promotion of interdisciplinary collaboration, recognizes Professor Polycarpou’s outstanding research work in the fields of intelligent systems and networks, neural networks and computational intelligence, automatic fault diagnosis, and control systems.
European Academy of Sciences
The European Academy of Sciences (EURASC), based in Belgium, is a non-profit, non-governmental, and independent organization that brings together some of the most distinguished European scientists and engineers, who conduct pioneering research and develop advanced technologies with the aim of promoting science and technology in support of social and economic development. The Academy is organized into nine fields, spanning from the natural and applied sciences to the social sciences and humanities.
