From Research to Reality: KIOS CoE Showcases Digital Solutions for Cypriot Organisations and Businesses

DiGiNN event 2026 700x450

A successful workshop on Smart Digital Solutions for Modern Organizations and Businesses was organized by the KIOS CoE in collaboration with the Digital Innovation Hub Cyprus (DiGiNN), on 23 June 2026 at the University of Cyprus.

The aim of the workshop was to showcase innovative digital technologies and tools that can contribute to improving services, enhancing operational efficiency, and accelerating the digital transformation of organizations and businesses in Cyprus. Participants were also introduced to the free digital transformation support services available to organizations and businesses through DiGiNN – Digital Innovation Hub and the Cyprus AI Factory Antenna: Pharos-CY, two European projects funded by the European Commission and the Deputy Ministry of Research, Innovation, and Digital Policy.

In his opening remarks, the Director of KIOS, Professor Christos Panayiotou, presented the two projects — DiGiNN and Pharos-CY — in which KIOS participates as a partner. DiGiNN, the European Digital Innovation Hub for Cyprus, operates as a one-stop-shop for businesses and public sector organizations, offering expert guidance, access to advanced infrastructure, support in finding investment, and connectivity to innovation ecosystems. Pharos-CY aims to accelerate the development and adoption of trustworthy AI solutions across priority sectors including Health, Sustainability, and Culture and Language.

The main part of the workshop featured presentations by KIOS researchers, who showcased real-world application examples and innovative technological solutions developed at the Centre in recent years. The technologies presented can be directly implemented by organizations and businesses in Cyprus, offering tangible benefits including optimization of operations and processes, smarter management of resources and infrastructure, improved data utilization and decision-making, reduction of operational costs and business risks, enhanced services for citizens and customers, and greater resilience and sustainable growth.

Among the solutions presented were Digital Twins for smart cities and infrastructure management, AI-powered tools for project planning and resource optimisation, digital platforms for risk assessment and proactive decision-making, smart equipment monitoring solutions for public authorities and infrastructure bodies, and digital tools for sustainable management of water and wastewater networks.

The workshop provided a valuable forum for dialogue between the academic and research community, the public sector, and the business world, with the aim of advancing digital innovation and harnessing technology for the development of Cyprus.
